After dad got the news about having cancer our family decided that we should take a family vacation all together. Kelli did the work finding the place - Paradise Point resort. It was a wonderful place where each of our families had their own bungalow. We were right on the beach of Mission Bay. We were 5 minutes away from Sea World and 10 minutes from the beach with the Pacific Ocean waves. We had a wonderful time - I remember that Kelli's daughter, Ryann, wanted so badly to go see the ocean/beach and once we got there - she realized that the smell - that salty, sea foam, wet, semi-rotten sea weed smell - didn't sit well with her and she wanted to leave about as soon as she got there. Grandma was nice and took her back to the car and waited. The rest of us stayed and enjoyed the beach - cool water though - Kelli and my daughter Logan both got their feet in the water. I remember going out onto the pier with my dad and my brother in law, Cory. Dad told me about some times in the Navy and what it was like when the seas were stormy - sitting in a ship that was listing badly side to side. I took a picture (seen in slideshow to the right), that I think says a lot and means a lot to me, that day. It is of Dad walking alone down the beach and I can't help but wonder what he was thinking about... his life, his family, what time was left to live, or maybe it was something more simple - like what a great day it was. Either way, I think the picture tells a lot. We all went to Sea World together and the San Diego Zoo - Dad was a trooper because I know his knee was hurting taking those hills in the zoo. Dad and mom helped us pay for this vacation and I thank them so much for it. It was our last vacation as a family and the time together meant a lot to me and my family. Thanks again Mom and Dad.
